AMR Abstract

There are numerous types of robots designed to allow life to be either easier or more enjoyable. It is desired to develop such a robot that will continue this trend. Imagine being able to map out the space and measurements of a room or any other enclosed area by simply turning on a robot. The Autonomous Mapping Robot (AMR) project investigates solutions to accomplish this task. The concept of the AMR is a robot that can move around autonomously while simultaneously scan and map out as much of its surroundings as possible while reporting its findings back to the user. This can be incredibly useful for creating a topographical view of an entire area remotely. This approach of remote surveying can also be utilized as a tool to explore areas that may not be safe or easily accessible to humans.
